This article explores the effectiveness of Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems (OHSMS) in the construction industry, a sector known for its high risk of accidents and injuries. It outlines the core components of OHSMS, discusses key performance indicators used to evaluate their success, and describes various methods of assessment, including audits, employee feedback, and incident trend analysis. The article also highlights common challenges in implementation and evaluation, such as underreporting and project variability, and provides strategies for enhancing system performance. The study emphasizes the need for a comprehensive, data-driven, and participatory approach to ensure meaningful health and safety outcomes on construction sites.
