This paper examines the functions and objectives of underwriting as a key element of the risk management system in insurance, banking and investment activities. The main areas of the underwriter's activities are disclosed: risk assessment and classification, pricing, formation of contract terms, decision-making on insurance, lending or placement of securities. The objectives of underwriting aimed at minimizing losses, increasing profitability and ensuring the financial stability of organizations are also analyzed. Particular attention is paid to modern trends and technologies influencing the development of underwriting practice.Downloads
