COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF COMMUNICATIVE LANGUAGE TEACHING (CLT) AND GRAMMAR-TRANSLATION METHOD (GTM) IN UZBEK ESL CLASSROOMS

This article compares two dominant methods in foreign language teaching—Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and the Grammar-Translation Method (GTM)—within the context of Uzbek ESL classrooms. It explores the theoretical foundations, practical applications, and challenges of both methods, analyzing their effectiveness in improving students' communicative competence. The article also discusses which method better aligns with the needs of modern Uzbek learners and suggests a potential blended approach.
