Abstract

The rise of internet journalism has transformed global communication, offering rapid access to news and fostering widespread public engagement. However, it has also facilitated the spread of fake news — deliberately misleading or false information presented as legitimate reporting. This article explores the nature, causes, and consequences of fake news within digital journalism, highlighting its impact on public trust, democracy, and journalistic integrity. It also examines strategies used to combat misinformation and restore credibility in the digital age.
