Abstract

The epidemiology and mechanisms of sports injuries occurring in winter sports are highly diverse. It is essential to prevent possible injuries not only in athletes participating in competitions but also in individuals engaging in other winter sports; and if an injury occurs, it is crucial to provide prompt first aid and initiate treatment without delay. The types of injuries vary according to the sport performed. In general, individuals who ski experience injuries more frequently than those engaged in other winter sports. The most common injuries are localized in the lower extremities, followed by the upper extremities and shoulder region. Injuries among skiers differ significantly from those observed in other athletes. Depending on the characteristics of the injury, management requires timely intervention and treatment conducted by a specialized medical team.
