Abstract

This article explores the linguocultural dimensions of naming and language creation in Ursula K. Le Guin's fantasy worlds. Grounded in anthropological and linguistic frameworks, it analyzes how linguistic structures in “Earthsea”, “The Left Hand of Darkness”, and “Always Coming Home” mirror cultural values, identity formation, and power dynamics. The study emphasizes Le Guin's anthropological heritage as a pivotal influence on her invention of fictional languages and societies, framing language as a core instrument for worldbuilding and cultural critique.
