This article investigates the syntactico-semantic properties of English prepositions and their equivalents in Uzbek. By analyzing spatial, temporal, causal, instrumental, and abstract uses, as well as idiomatic and metaphorical expressions, the study highlights the challenges of achieving accurate cross-linguistic equivalence. It emphasizes that English prepositions are polysemous and contextually variable, whereas Uzbek relies on postpositions, case endings, and syntactic restructuring. The research contributes to theoretical linguistics, translation studies, language pedagogy, and computational applications, offering a framework for understanding prepositional meaning and facilitating accurate translation and language acquisition.
