THE LEADING PATHOS AND IDEOLOGICAL-AESTHETIC PRINCIPLES OF THE WORK “TARIHI MULUKI AJAM”
Keywords:
Alisher Navoi, «Tarihi Muluki Ajam», didactic literature, ghurur (pride), transience, fate, historical narrative, poetic interpolation, ideological-aesthetic principles.Abstract
This study examines the didactic and philosophical underpinnings of Alisher Navoi's historical work «Tarihi Muluki Ajam» («The History of the Kings of Ajam»). Employing textual and comparative analysis, the research investigates how Navoi utilizes historical narratives and poetic interludes to convey a central ideological and aesthetic message. The analysis reveals that the work is fundamentally structured around the philosophical contemplation of human transience, the inevitability of death, and the consequent moral imperative for righteous conduct and the rejection of pride (ghurur). Navoi's method involves illustrating these principles through historical exempla, primarily rulers from Persian tradition, and reinforcing them with succinct poetic conclusions (kissa-dan hissa). The study concludes that the dominant pathos of the work is didactic-moralistic, aimed at guiding the reader towards ethical self-improvement and a consciousness of life's ephemeral nature, thereby establishing the work's unified ideological-aesthetic framework.
