ATHEROSCLEROSIS AND ITS RISK FACTORS
Keywords:
atherosclerosis, cardiovascular diseases, lipid metabolism, risk factors, arterial hypertension, prevention.Abstract
Atherosclerosis is one of the major pathogenetic factors underlying cardiovascular diseases and is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates worldwide. This condition develops as a result of the accumulation of lipids and connective tissue elements in the walls of blood vessels, leading to narrowing of the vascular lumen and impaired blood circulation. Atherosclerosis often progresses silently over a long period and is usually diagnosed at advanced stages when serious clinical complications have already developed. This article provides a detailed analysis of the mechanisms of atherosclerosis development, the main risk factors, and their impact on the human body based on scientific literature.
