Abstract

 This study explores alternative methods of English language teaching and their effectiveness in enhancing learners’ communicative competence and overall language proficiency. In response to the limitations of traditional teacher-centered approaches, modern methodologies such as Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), and technology-enhanced learning have gained increasing attention. The research is based on a review and analysis of recent scholarly literature, focusing on the theoretical foundations, practical applications, and outcomes of these approaches. The findings indicate that alternative methods significantly improve learner engagement, motivation, and real-world language use by promoting interaction, collaboration, and learner autonomy. Additionally, the integration of digital tools and artificial intelligence contributes to personalized and flexible learning environments. However, challenges such as limited resources, insufficient teacher training, and institutional constraints may affect their implementation. The study concludes that adopting innovative and context-sensitive teaching strategies can substantially improve the quality of English language education.
