Abstract

 This study explores the distinctive features of internet discourse as a dynamic and rapidly evolving form of communication shaped by digital technologies. Unlike traditional written and spoken discourse, internet discourse demonstrates hybridity, combining elements of both modes while introducing unique linguistic, pragmatic, and sociocultural characteristics. The research analyzes key features such as brevity, multimodality, interactivity, informality, and the extensive use of emojis, abbreviations, and hashtags. Special attention is given to how users construct meaning in online environments through contextual cues, shared knowledge, and platform-specific conventions. The study also examines the role of internet discourse in shaping identity, influencing communication norms, and facilitating global interaction across linguistic and cultural boundaries. By employing qualitative discourse analysis, the research highlights how digital communication reshapes language use and contributes to the emergence of new discourse practices. The findings demonstrate that internet discourse is not merely a simplified form of communication but a complex and adaptive system reflecting contemporary social and technological realities.
