Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of game-based techniques in English vocabulary learning. Vocabulary acquisition is a central aspect of language learning, and traditional methods often fail to sustain learners’ motivation and long-term retention. The research explores how game-based learning environments enhance lexical development by increasing learner engagement, reducing anxiety, and promoting active participation. It highlights that games create meaningful contexts for vocabulary use, allowing learners to interact with target words repeatedly in enjoyable and motivating settings. The study also emphasizes the role of digital technologies in supporting adaptive and multimodal vocabulary learning experiences. Findings suggest that game-based techniques significantly improve learners’ motivation, retention, and communicative confidence compared to conventional teaching methods. However, successful implementation requires careful instructional design and teacher competence to ensure alignment with learning objectives. Overall, the study concludes that game-based learning is an effective pedagogical approach that enriches vocabulary instruction and supports more sustainable language acquisition outcomes.
