This review synthesises research on the role of media resources and lexical resources in language teaching and learning. It examines how the two literatures, long developed in parallel, have increasingly converged as digital media reshape the ways in which vocabulary is encountered, processed and retained. After tracing the theoretical foundations of each field, the review surveys empirical findings on multimedia and vocabulary acquisition, corpus and data-driven learning, mobile and incidental learning, and the role of the teacher in mediating these resources. It concludes by identifying gaps in the literature and proposing directions for future research.
